(née Behan)

Back in the 1960's, my mum (Lily) would bring all of us over to 'Nanny's' for Christmas. That cosy home, on Downpatrick road, was very special to us as you always felt welcomed by the people there, close or distant relatives alike.

I distinctly remember aunty Patty, with her jet-black hair, showing up to help with the cooking, singing and entertaining! Uncle Mikey would grin as he chased us around the house with a severed turkey claw. He would secretly pull on the tendons to make it appear to be alive, and of course, THAT added to the scare and fun factor. Lorraine, David, Linda and Philip, who knew Nanny's house better than we did, always had the best hiding spots!

The Behan (and Rooney) family are the absolute salt of the earth. I have no doubt that Lily made a special effort to return the favour, by personally welcoming her sister over to, what has to be, a very special place.
