It is with great sadness to learn of the passing of Patrick Connolly or indeed as he was alway’s been affectionately known as “The Barber Connolly.
We offer our sincere and deepest sympathy to his beloved wife Mary, to his sister Elizabeth and her family, his brother Oliver, to all of the “Barbers” Siblings, nieces and nephews and to the extended Connolly Family at home and Abroad.
Remembering “ the “Barber Connolly” as one of the great household names and soccer and sporting Mentors that we as young Athlone lads all knew and learned off during our soccer playing youth in the school boy league in the the late Fifties and Sixties. Many of us young lads at that time knew and heard of the “Barber Connolly “ long before we matched the name with the face.
Paddy Connolly was one of the most affable Athlone and sporting personalities that I have known and met during my lifetime in Athlone growing up.
During my working life and my early morning Cycles, was alway’s a pleasure to meet and chat with the Barber Connolly, his knowledge of local, national and international sport was immense and "The Barber" loved to voice his opinions on the weekend’s form of many of the matches during the playing season.
Remembering the deceased members of the Connolly and extended Connolly families at this time also.
