My deepest sympathies to Bings family at this very sad & difficult time. I had the pleasure as did so many soldiers in the 5 Inf Bn of serving alongside your father. I only think of one man when ever I go back to visit Collins Bks and look up the square towards the Clock Block and that's Sgt Bing Crosby I still hear his powerful voice calling out the orders to the troops as they practiced their COFD. The Square belonged to him. He passed on so much knowledge to us younge pups. It was an honour to know and serve with Sgt Bing Crosby 5 Inf Bn. Your duty is done here go now and Rest in Peace Sarge
It was my priivilige to know and serve with Bing A loyal and dependable soldier to his unit and all who served with high. May he rest in peace
Deepest sympathies to the Crosby family on the passing of your Dad. Know to us in army circles as simply ‘Bing’, he was indeed a legend. Fondest memories of a true gent and fair NCO. Clearly remember nights in guardroom of Collins Bks listening to his many stories of his time in the Congo and particularly his service with A Coy 36 Inf Bn. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam agus go dtuga Dia leaba compórdach dó i measc na Naomh ‘s na nAingeal.

Sympathy to all the family on Bings death. I came to the 5th Bn in 1973 and Bing was one of the first Sgts i met, you would hear and fear him on the square, but a funny man, met him in bks for years after when i went to Transport. R.I. P. Bing.
Bing so sad to hear of your passing. A true legend. I remember our guard duties in Taghadoe and cappagh together with fondness and laughter. You were never a sgt to let your privates have a nap. But I remember cooking a lovely slow cooked steak dinner for the guard and you were so impressed you allowed me to catch forty winks but went on to wake me by putting two ferril kits on my face rousing me from my slumber. We had many a laugh about that when I attained the rank of sgt. Rest easy comrade. Much respect to you.
My condolance to all the family of the late Bing Crosby a gentlemen and good army friend may he rest in peace.

Fond memories of a wonderful kind sincere gentleman. Bing was a very special favourite tenor choir member in Ballygall Adult Parish Choir so faithful to attendance and made wonderful contributions at our many Christmas parties singing The Holy City and At The End Of The Day. I had the great honour to have served for many years with Bing. A very enthusiastic NCO who served with distinction throughout his career. He was always deeply involved with shooting teams and in his younger years was a keen footballer. His voice is now silenced but the heavens will enjoy his melodious songs and hymns. Rest in Peace Bing.
