I extend my deepest condolences to the Hannan family upon the passing of Bob after his extended illness. His tragic loss is a sad blow to all who knew him in Dun Laoghaire and who admired his work in the local vicinity. Many people who use the buildings that he helped design will feel the benefit of his wonderful efforts in the local area. I shall always remember him whenever using or passing the new baths on Dun Laoghaire seafront.
I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the Hannan family on the passing of Bob, He was a valued work collegue and friend during my time with DLR Co.Co. He will be sadly missed.

Sincerest condolences to my dear friend Martha, Johanna, his adored son Demetrios and Bobs family. We were lucky enough to be Bobs neighbours on his time spent in Dublin 8 with Martha. I would hope when I turned the corner to come home each evening that I would see him outside Martha's house on the bench in the little garden he cultivated with Martha and Johanna. We will miss him. Rest easy lovely Bob, it was a pleasure to know you.
Deepest sympathies to all the Hannan family, Demetrios and Maria on the passing of Bob.

Dear Bob was a lovely man, I often enjoyed a chat with him at the school gate, or about the town. I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all he knew.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh an anam dílis.
I am so deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was one of the world's true gents, with a kind soul ànd smile. He will be so missed. My thoughts are with all his family and friends at this time.
Very sad to hear of Bob's untimely passing. A gentleman to his fingertips. Deepest Condolence to all his family & friends.
I was very sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. Every time I pass the Baths I can’t help thinking about him, and his contribution to Dun Laoghaire. His is a legacy that will endure, and I hope his good work will be carried on by his colleagues in DLRCC. He has left us far too soon.

My condolences to his family and friends.
My deepest condolences to Bob’s beloved son, Demetrios, his mother and sisters - and to the wonderful extended family he found so much joy with in Martha and Johanna. A beautiful life cut short far too soon. I would have loved the chance to meet him. May he rest peacefully now, and may the memory of the love you shared bring some comfort in the midst of this terrible loss.
I am sad that I never knew Bob though I worked in DLR CoCo for aeons. I do remember him on his bike with his curly hair and have observed the transformation his designs have made of the Dun Laoghaire Seafront and elsewhere.

It would seem fitting that in time, a memorial plaque be placed with an inscription similar to Christopher Wren's in St Pauls - 'Reader, if you seek his memorial, look around you.'

Sincere sympathy to Bob's loved ones. He is strolling among the olive groves of heaven for sure.
I was saddened to hear that Bob has left us.

I was a clerk in the Planning Department for a good few years. Our paths crossed occasionally; both through work and socialising.

He had no hesitancy about holding forth on matters Architectural to pen-pushing me! Passionate but gentle.

My late Father was a brilliant Carpenter. He was always proud that his own skills - though largely hidden - lived on through the many homes that he worked on; particularly those with awkward roof designs for which he was much in demand.

Bob's legacy is much more visible.

It's been a long time since we met. But I never forgot him.

May he rest in peace.

Larry Dunne. Ex-DLR.
Deepest Condolences to my dear little sister Martha, Johanna, Demetrios and Bobs extended family.

Martha I knew after your second date with Bob, when he brought you a Lidl soup carton, containing plums from his garden and mermaid illustration on the lid that you had met the love of your life .

I watched you blossom as he loved and cared for you with his unique creative and gentle love .

And then the New Year brought the dreaded news.

You never left his side and returned that care for Bob through the darkest of times. Your love for each other only intensifying despite the unrelenting challenges of MND, or The Comet,
as you both referred to it.

Bob bore and accepted his illness
with calm dignity .
In his own words not
Why me ?
But…
Why now .

You can rest easy now Bob .
You shall be missed greatly .
Martha my heart goes out to you. You and Bob shared such a very special love. My deepest condolences to you and all the Hannan family.

Deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Bob. Thoughts and prayers are with his dearest “wildflower” Martha, Johanna and all of Bob’s family. Was an honour getting to know him in recent years. May he Rest in Peace.
It was such sad news to learn that Bob had died. I was very glad to join the hundreds of people who packed Dalkey's Catholic church for his funeral and to be able to express my condolences to members of his family, including his son Demetrios, and his partner Martha.

I recalled the last time we met on December 8th, 2022, which was also the first time I had seen Mark Richards' great statue of Roger Casement facing the shoreline. Marvelling at how wonderful it is, I asked Bob who had made it happen, and he said "I did!".

His inspired leadership in DLRCC on urban design and placemaking will be sorely missed. But every time I see the Casement statue, I will remember him.

Thanks Bob for taking me on several tours of the baths site. You had a difficult brief and had to please a number of opposing factions. In your own words you had provided a “blank canvas”, a site ready to work on for future development. You were always an absolute gentleman, a visionary and a brilliant architect. I’m so sad we never got to have that glass of wine on the terrace overlooking the most beautiful view in Dublin to celebrate. My sincere condolences to all your family.
Our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Bob Hannan rest in peace Bob.
