We were saddened to learn of the passing of David. He was appointed consultant archaeologist when our conservation project commenced in 2021. His wealth of knowledge and advice was invaluable, and we really enjoyed his company, and great sense of humour. We send our deepest sympathies to his wife Roseanne and the extended family. What can I say? David was one of the greatest medieval archaeologists not only here in Ireland, but also in Europe. I was so lucky to have him as a friend and also as a professional archaeologist. He gave me such good advice during his long career which helped me develop my academic interests. I will also miss his expertise on vintage wines, and his gardening skills.
Dearest Rosanne and family I send you my condolences on your loss, hopefully mitigated by his truly amazing archaeological skills and his love and support of his great family, and for his friends. I will never forget you.
