Patrick Idy as we affectionately knew was renowned for his generosity and kindness.. his community spirit was always seen with the flags in the front of his house be it limerick Munster or Ireland and of course the statue of our lady.. I always thought he should have been awarded a little reception by Limerick City council .May god bless him look after him and may he Rest In Peace

We will all miss you so much our dad and granda you were the greatest man and dad to us all we will miss seeing you every day of our lives my mam is heartbroken please mind nana granda for us she will miss you so much.

I was saddened to learn of Paddy's death. May I offer sincere condolences to Mary Ann, to Paddy's immediate and extended family, to his neighbours and many friends.
Paddy and I were in school together in old St Lelia's infant school in Kileely, and later at the Christian Brothers (on the Cross Road and, in our final year, at the new school in Hassett's Cross). Our paths diverged soon after. But, though I left Limerick in 1962, in the decades that followed I never lost contact with Paddy. We met occasionally during my visits home to Limerick (too often, for funerals), and we exchanged greetings every Christmas.
He was very proud of his family, and I am sure that they will mourn his passing. Trócaire ar a anam. May Paddy find rest and eternal peace. With deep sadness.
