Pat was indeed a bit of a legend in Social Science back in the 1980's -where I suspect his hair style originated? His kindness, insight and gentle humour made UCD a better place- a capacity I am sure he applied in all the other areas of his life since, which I am sure makes this time all the more difficult for you all.
