I'm so sad to hear of Pete's passing. He was a lovely gentle man. I met through his friend Dermot on a number of golf outings. He was always so cheerful, friendly and interesting, a delight to be around. May the Lord have mercy on his soul.

Sincere sympathy to Pete's family on his passing. Truth be told, I remember little of the cutting edge technology that we worked on during those years, but I do recall Pete's endles legenary stories about early marathons in Dublin, growing up in Tipp etc.etc.
Above all, I remember the warmth
with which he told us about his family.

Deepest sympathy to all the Lonergan family on the loss of Pete. Who many times, we waited for on a tee box. While deciding to stay or proceed, Pete would inevitably come running, dragging his golfbag behind him. It never ceased to amaze us how he seamless transitioned with a smile from utter chaos to the serenity required to split the fairway with a perfect drive.

I have great memories of being brought to see P.J. boxing in the tournaments in Clonmel and being in his house with his brother and seeing all the trophies that he had won. He was a Role Model for all us young lads at that time.

PJ was a wonderful friend of Clonliffe Harriers and a great supporter of the Morton Games. He was great company and I had the pleasure of enjoying some wonderful foreign trips with PJ to athletic events including Olympics Games. We celebrated many a Bloomsday together.

I am very sorry to hear of Pete’s death. My sincere sympathy to the extended Lonergan family.
Pete was always a very friendly and helpful colleague. Pete and I often recited the poem The Hound of Heaven to see which of us could remember the most of it. Rest in Peace Pete.

I would just like to express my sympathy to Pete's family at this very sad time for you. Like many others, I worked with Pete in Glasnevin. A particular memory I have is of being together with Pete in a class trying to learn Italian. Pete never let the class get boring.

Pete was a wonderful colleague at work and companion on the golf course. Life was never dull in his company. I will always remember him leading a sing-song on a coach trip with a group of international visitors especially his rendition of Forty Shades of Green. May he Rest-in-Peace.

Very saddened to learn of Pete’s passing. I have known Pete for over 40 years.He was always on the move but always had time for a quick chat. He never stopped talking about you all as he was so proud of you. Since his retirement I would meet him regularly on the Coast Road in Malahide. I last met him a few months ago, New Scientist under his arm. When you loose your second parent it is so much harder. Thinking of you all.
