Junior sent me in so many wonderful nature & scenic photos over the years from Roscommon, Longford & surrounding areas so it was always a pleasure to showcase his wonderful talented work on national television. So very sorry to hear about Juniors passing. My sincere condolences to Elaine , his treasured children and extended family . I will always remember Junior for his quick humour and witty character . Underneath all of this was a man who cared for his community and those who lived in it . He truly enjoyed teaching water skills to all ages and was involved in many community events. He gave me many a dig out, remembering The Sub Aqua fire when he held the cordon for me until my colleagues arrived. He played a big part in Lanesboro Triathlon every year and always had a crack at the local Sgt who throughly enjoyed him . He was a good man . May he rest in peace .

I was very shocked and saddened to hear about Junior’s sudden death. My sister, Ursula and I did a few kayaking courses down in Portrunny. Junior was so enthusiastic, helpful and passionate about it and we had great craic and learned loads. Thinking of the Hannon family and all of Junior’s friends at this difficult time. Sending my sincerest sympathies. May Junior rest in peace.

I was with Junior when he started off kayaking many years ago, and shared the water with him many times with Inny club, search and rescue to triathlon rescue, someone you could always depend on to help out on the water with a smile. RIP Junior, you’ll be in my thoughts when I’m next on the water.
