I had the pleasure of Paddy's company with John OConnor on many occasions playing cards at Naughtons or Tony's or in Feakle after hurling matches. A gentleman.

Dear Uncle Paddy. I have very fond memories of spending time at the farm as a young child. I would have loved to have spent more time with you and the extended family but life’s challenges took over.
We often spoke about you - especially on Sunday having dinner with Mags and listening to Irish music.
You were significant in forging relationships for us cousins as a focal point for our connection.
We will endeavour to ensure that we keep the family history thriving. Rest in Peace.

Dear Uncle Paddy - which was how I would begin my letters to you as a child in the 1970’s , telling you my news about Guinea pigs and pets , illustrating my envelopes with cartoons- unfortunately they were all confiscated , you received them many years later, as the undercover UK postal services tried to decipher the ‘ secret codes’ - I was obviously too clever for them aged 10! My earliest memories are of the farm , the aroma of cold fresh milk churns , Dolly and Billy the horses and my little brother Damien, just toddling, driving the cows with you down the lane. Happy summers bringing in the Hay with our cousins , a bucket of puppies and getting Kevin ready in the parlour on his Wedding morning - many years on with my mother , Margaret your Megan , she had her last visit to you on the farm - I listened as you shared memories together about the goat you let loose in the school house , how you missed the call of the Corncrakes and Owls in the eaves … and quietly to me how you felt Megan was going the same way as Mama- you were right and I know how much she cherished your phone calls every Sunday night , sharing news of all around . I see you’re all safely home now , at the farm, round the peat fire Rest in peace Uncle Paddy and May the Corncrakes call for you x

May Paddy’s gentle soul rest in peace. A gentle man who was part of our childhood growing up in Islandmore. Paddy & my Dad spent a lot of evenings chatting and arguing. Kennedy’s Cross hasn’t been the same since he left.

Very sad to hear of Paddy’s passing, lots of lovely & fond memories of visiting him, but also, him visiting & babysitting us with a hidden Dairy Milk chocolate to share. RIP Paddy xx
