I am so sorry to learn of PJ's passing. My condolences to Mary, Aidan, Gerard and the extended family. I had the pleasure of working with PJ many years ago: 1984 - 1986 at Fitzgibbon Street Garda Station where he was Sergeant in charge of Unit 'A' for many years. PJ was pleasant, hardworking and efficient as he led by example. He was effective in advising unit personnel, especially giving invaluable guidance to the many recruit Gardai who commenced their careers there. PJ was also a loyal colleague who commanded the admiration and respect of all those to whom and for whom he was responsible. Above all, he was a true gentleman.
May PJ's soul rest in peace.

I have many fond memories of PJ: first, when you included me in your wedding celebration when I was an American college student studying in England, then visiting with my family, and attending Gerard and Sandra’s wedding. We all enjoyed his wit and hospitality.

To say PJ was a gentleman full of integrity, warmth, excellent advice, anticipation of disaster, solution based and an ear to absorb others worries is an injustice to his worth and stature. I have fond memories of P.J. in the sixties, while he was young Garda staying at my parents guest house in Ballinamore. P.J. was part of our family in those years and the friendship continued with the occasional telephone call and a yearly Christmas Card.
