Sincere condolences to the McHugh family at this sad time. Pat was a good friend for many years. We always enjoyed his company and recall the many holidays we spent together on the Dingle Peninsula in Kerry, on the Aran Islands in Galway and climbing Croagh Patrick in Mayo.
May he rest in peace.

It was with great sadness that we heard of the death of Pat, who did us the honour of being best man at our wedding in 1973. We had become great friends at school in Drimnagh Castle and remained so all our lives. I recall nights in the Halfway House, dances in The Crystal and other ballrooms, holidays in Kerry and many matches in Croke Park over the decades - some great memories.
Sincere condolences to Kathleen, Marie and their extended families.
May Pat rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear of Pats passing, i delivered his fish and chips to him every friday, we would have the chats in the garden. Lovely man. Rest easy.
Pat was such a beautiful neighbour - we felt so welcome from the first time we met him.
Pat was a true gentleman. We would stop on the street, or I'd call to his house to have a yarn about Cuala Hurling, or how the Dubs were getting on, or his great love, astronomy.
That man was a pleasure and a treasure trove of knowledge. He will be greatly missed.
Paul, Loretta, Caoimhe.

There is a massive hole in my heart, and in the heart of the whole family, with Pat's passing.
There isn't an aspect of my life - whether it's my love for music and genealogy, to my own middle name - that doesn't owe itself to Pat McHugh.
In difficult times for my family, Pat stepped up as an honourary father for me when I needed it most, and introduced me to a lifelong fascination with Irish culture - my culture. Books, films, GAA games at Croke Park, Irish history, family history, Irish music - his passions were magnetic, and helped define my own over the course of my lifetime.
When Pat spoke with my children, calling them his "great pals," their little faces would light up. I can remember that distinct warmth from when I was a child, of him saying the same thing to me. It was an honour.
Pat, it was such a gift to be your nephew.
