Pat was such an interesting personality. Once I stepped on a train en route to a conference in Belfast. Pat was en route to the same conference at PRONI. We both spent hours chatting heading to Belfast and heading back to Dublin. He was a man who could talk about so many subjects. He will be missed.
My deepest sympathy. Pat may you rest in peace
My sympathies to Shane, Mags , Lily Anne and family on the passing of Pat. I remember he led a group of us off the beaten track, skiing slopes in Livigno at Shane & Mags wedding - it was memorable and a reflection of his adventurous spirit.
Shane, Padraic , Fintan and Geraldine our sympathies to you ALL at this time of Pat’s death. We recall the laughs we had and plans we discussed over meetings at home and across the seas with him and Olivia on Aldebaran . The Presentations on their travels and how they both participated and regaled all with their unique delivery of events and betimes, Olivia’s look, worth a thousand words. They had their audience in stitches. In recent years we met Geraldine and again, we had the conversations as Pat would tell us of his and Geraldine's times together at sea and on the lake. Always enriching.
May I offer my sincere condolences to the Murphy family. Pat was a lovely man and a great sailor. 'Home is the sailor, home from the sea'.
Sincere condolences to the Murphy family on Pats passing. A great friend in times past.
May he rest in peace.
Very deepest sympathy on the death of Pat. We talked many times in my then role with RTE and Seascapes. He called occasionally in retirement years and it was always good to hear from him and talk about sailing. I am sorry to hear of his death. He was a great maritime voice.
Our deepest sympathy's to Pat's family & friends. May he rest in peace.
What a wonderful man Pat was. He brightened up every room he walked into. Deepest condolences to all his family.

True wind and fair sailing Boss.
Will always think of you passing the house.
My condolences to all of the Murphy Family. I worked many weekends and Dublin boat shows with Pat. His enthusiasm for sailing was infectious.

Sail on Pat to your next adventure.
Our sympathies to all who mourn the loss of Pat.

We were so sorry to hear of Pat's passing. To Geraldine and all of Pat's family please accept our deepest condolences. Pat and Ger were such good friends and great neighbours to my father Martin, and we know how upset Pat was when Martin passed. We're thinking of you all at this sad time.

Sincere condolences to all Pat’s family. I’m from England and remember well acing against Pat in GP14s at the nationals in the 1980s/90s. There was some great craic.

When I moved over to Clontarf it was great to meet up again.

May he rest in peace
Sincere condolences to Pat's partner, his children and his family members. Pat was a good friend and well-known to all in Dundalk, particularly of a maritime interest. His work with helping to restore The Asgard and sailing her was wonderful to hear recounted. He will be missed by all how knew him. May he rest in peace.
Condolence to Pat's family. Last time we met was at the Asgard where the curator was to talk. She fell ill and was replaced by a lecturer from Maynooth. He was so impressed by Pat that he deferred to him and we learned so much. Pat was very proud of the replica dingy he had commissioned from the original drawings. It now sits in front of Asgard at Collins Barracks. Ar deis De go raibh a anam, dilis.
I have great memories, going back a long time of sailing with Pat and Olivia in Alderbaron, good times, skiing in Livingno and etc, hillwalking on occasions and many contacts over the years. God be good to them both.
My sympathies with Geraldine and the Murphy family on this sad occasion.
Shane, Padraig, Fintan and family, so sorry to hear of your very sad loss. Remembering all the fun, happy times and events in the Caribbean, on the Shannon and especially at SDC.
Rest in Peace, Pat.
Muriel, Riocard, Charlotte, Ruan and Ciara
Sorry to hear about Pat’s passing. We bought a Laser and other bits and pieces from his shop. We also listened
to his recounts of his big boat trip westward. A lovely man. May he rest in peace.
I was greatly saddened to hear the news. It evoked memories and associations of Pat spanning decades both as a family friend and my skipper. Here are just a few, to which I think sailors and non-sailors in the group can relate.
Comaraderie and the pursuit of excellence:
Pat’s garage and the first Dinghy Supplies. His “Crisis Mgmt” Hiace Van at GP events for “Oh Sh1t” moments and new gear.
SDC and mentorship. Mirrors to GPs and all the great sailors of that time.
Dad, Pat and Tony C. Antics & organizing. Event planning and pranks. Disappearing masts and floorboards. Turbo gins.
Ciaran Byrne (RIP), my 3rd Stage Instructor at SDC (who many of you will have known), recommended me to Pat to replace him. Big shoes to fill. New “kido” on the block (as Pat used to refer to me). Ciaran’s Crew’s Union. GP away events. Camping and racing fun.
Taking knowledge to the next level:
Learning Curves. Boat handling, teamwork, and tactics at the top. Always thrilling to compete against the best.
Our 1st British Inlands, testing our skills in no wind. Flopping around, while watching the top British sailors demo how to glide masterfully through their roll-tacks away from us up the beat.
More training, tuning, hull sanding (my fav…) and the importance of “smooooth.”
All starting at SDC, our most memorable result was 4th place in the worlds. It has been my privilege to have known and raced with Pat.
RIP “Skip”.
Our deepest sympathies to all the Murphy family.
Pat helped us so much with the best of gear when we were planning our longer trips.
I thoroughly enjoyed the craic with Pat and the rest of the bunch during the early days of the Laser Frostbites in Howth.
He will be greatly missed

So sorry to hear of Pat's passing after an illness bravely borne. I had a lot of interaction with Pat and his late wife Olivia in sailing matters and am very sad that he won't be around for the odd chat. He lived a varied and full life, focussed on family and his love of all things maritime. Condolences to Geraldine, his sons and grandchildren and of course, Layla, his trusty companion. May he rest in peace.
My deepest sympathies to Geraldine and the Murphy family on the very sad passing of Pat. We were fellow members of the Heritage Society where Pat gave unstinting service, and many a great talk on his seafaring adventures.

Condolences to all the Murphy family and Geraldine.
We missed them this year in KQ.
We had tea on their annual arrival at KQ and heading West. A text to warn us!
The tea on return from the West usually had a report on the” incidents”of the voyage.
A globe circumnavigator.
Deepest sympathy to all family and his many friends.
Sad to hear of the passing of Pat, a true sailing legend and someone whose contribution to the sport is simply unquantifiable. From a time when getting to the windward mark first was everyones goal to sliding down the ski slopes in Livigno, Pat has left us with a legacy of memories to cherish and provide solace to his departure. Sincere sympathy to Shane, Padraic, Fintan and Ger on your loss. Fair winds on your journey Pat. Rest in Peace
