I met Packie when I arrived in Dublin in the early 90s...Im a Rossie..Packie a Banner man true and true..he also loved the Dubs also a great Celtic and Ireland supporter...
We had wonderful times in the Millennium Bar in Parkgate St..we all made the best of friends..it was the the HQ of Park Rangers who he signed up and played for when he arrived and started work in the Aisling hotel where he met his life long and wonderful partner Marieanne..
Many great celebrations were had in the Millennium..Clare winning the All Ireland the highlight..his Mother a wonderful lady travelled the lenght and breth of the country following the Banner...
He brought me to Thurles to experience my first Munster hurling game accompanied by Foxy and Alan...Denis and Dick stayed home(The Millennium) we lost..then to Cork the following year we lost. Packie announced no more games Trish your not bringing us any luck....
We hadnt met in a long time but we always kept in contact by phone and txt..
What a beautiful send off ...all his Park Rangers mates chatted and told stories of all the great times..beautiful Mass and meeting all the old heads that came to remember and pay respect to a Friend...
The sun shone today on a beautiful soul..RIP
