Patrick (Paddy) Brennan

Myself and Flan, in our efforts to establish a National Telecom Museum visited Paddy in Drogheda on a number of occasions. He of course had a great interest in telecom memorabilia and had established a museum in Drogheda. He had worked in Athlone in the 50s and he enjoyed reminiscing about those times. Paddy regaled us with stories from the past and was a font of knowledge. He never let us go home empty handed either. We will remember him through these gifts and hope to see his pieces properly exhibited in a museum in the future. Sincere sympathies to all of the Brennan family. Rest in Peace Paddy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Paddy on a number of occasions, when I briefly worked in Greenhills School. One could not meet a nicer man, who was full of wisdom, wit and humour. I recall fondly many tales he told me of his time in Westmeath and then his later life in Drogheda and I was always struck at how we would recall and remember small details he had remembered about me. That was a real mark of the man. Sincere sympathies to the Brennan family on his passing. May he rest in peace.

Paddy was very much part of Our Lady's College Greenhills he was so well liked and loved by all, nothing was ever to much trouble for paddy no matter what was asked of him. He was so welcoming to anyone who came through the gates of the school. I was a student in the school also my two daughters attended, and I was on parentents council for ten years, so we knew paddy so well, he will always be remembered with love by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time. Pamela Cherrymount.

Sad to hear of Paddy's passing. Such a lovely obliging man, a pity he didn't make the 100 mark. When I worked for Eircom Paddy was always a good man for a story when Telecho visited Drogheda. Only for Paddy and a few more former Eircom staff like Tom Wall in Dublin and John L. O'Sullivan in Cork there would be very little record of Telecommunications in Ireland.

Sincere condolences to all of the Brennan family on Paddy's death. Thank you for sharing Paddy with all of us - the students and staff of Our Lady's College, Greenhills for 50 + yrs. He was everybody's friend and right hand man.
The signs of his selfless contributions in so many different ways are evident all over Greenhills College, none more so than in The Greenhills Gymnasium to which he dedicated a lot of time and energy over a 50 year period.
As one passes by our Lady's College, the Gym stands proudly inside the gates. Having been built without any state aid, it has, over the last 50 years facilitated many uses for the school and local community. The Gym stands as an example of what can be achieved when people, with good support from other parents, past pupils and local community work well together for the common good. To this end Paddy led the way.
Close by the Gym he erected a Grotto to Our Lady, who was "his go to person" when he needed some help or guidance. He was a man of great faith and would happily recommend the intercession of Our Lady to others at a time of need.
Many people have done a lot of good for Drogheda. Paddy was one of those people who did good in many ways.
May he rest in peace.
