Our deepest sympathies to all the Coffey family. At the young age of 10, himself and John O'Connor trained me in the ways of the sea. He pulled lobster pots faster than I could clean them out and bait them. As coxswain of the Cuan na gCeall he gave me the opportunity to join the rowing team. Paddy was a rock of a man, we will both sorely miss him, but also always remember him for the gentle strength and good humour he had and shared.

I have fond memories of Paddy as our cox while training in Kells Bay. He had excellant knowledge of the sea. He had three routes for training depending on which Way the wind was blowing. No1 To Foileye and beyond No2 Straight out the bay facing Dingle No 3 Pass Sheas point and heading towards Inch.Great to meet him in later years for a chat.May Paddys Gentle soul rest in peace.
