Whenever we walked the lane and the blue doors of Paddy’s workshop were closed Kenilworth Lane felt like a lonelier place. Today we saw the doors were closed and then noticed a small bunch of wild flowers attached to the lock and knew at once that we had chatted to Paddy for the last time. He brightened every day and his cheerful presence will be sorely missed. Our sincere condolences to the Denieffe family

Our sincere sympathy to the Denieffe family on the death of Pat. He was a master-craftsman, had a tremendous work ethic and was always dedicated to the job at hand. He took so much pride in his work and paid great attention to detail – Pat took no shortcuts.

We were enriched by his presence last year after he came to our home to work on a project – we thoroughly enjoyed the time in his company, the stories and memories shared and we were lucky to have known him. His legacy will shine the light on the road for many in the years ahead and his craftsmanship will endure for a long time yet.

Eternal rest and peace to you, Pat. You will be greatly missed by your family and all those who knew you.

Deepest sympathies to all the Denieffe family. I was proud to have such a nice person as my godfather, who I always enjoyed going to hurling matches with you and my father, cheering on Dublin and Kilkenny. Unfortunately I can't make the funeral today but my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sincere condolences to all the Denieffe family on the sad loss of Pat. May he rest in peace.
"Pat", as he was to me, was of course a highly skilled craftman and excellent carpenter. But he was also a clever, kind quick-witted and very witty man to spend time with and work beside, as I had the honour to do when he draught-proofed and balanced the windows in our house and many other things. He was always encouraging about my small efforts.
But as I learned when I loaned him "The Ragged Trousered Philantrophists" he was also an authority on the labour history of men in the building trade. He described vividly how very bad it was long ago. And enhanced what I had learned from that great book by Robert Tressell (really Noonan).
After Padraig's kind text telling me of the death I was reminded of my thought that the next time I would meet Pat I would ask if he ever consided retirement? Maybe he enjoyed people too much to consider it seriously? He seemed to enjoy life so much.
I used to joke that his ancestors probably nearly built Kilkenny Castle; and I liked when I called to his blue doors off Kenilworth Square to greet him with:"Up Kilkenny!"
Sincere condolences to Patricia and the Denieffe family on the sad passing of Pat who gave outstanding commitment to refereeing in Dublin and as a player with Round Towers.
Dia le Pat agus é anois ag luascadh an chamáin le seanimreoirí iomána ar pháirc na bhFlaitheas. Bhí sé riamh ina imreoir cruaidh colgánta ná géillfeadh puinn go dtí go séidfí an fheadóg dheireanach. Bhí scileanna nótálta iomána Chill Chainnigh aige, scilleanna a roinn sé go flaithiúil le himreoirí Chluain Dolcáin agus scata eile foirne le linn dó a bheith ag imirt i mBaile Áthá Cliath. Deinimid comhbhrón croí lena bhean Patricia agus lena chlann. Beannacht Dé lena anam dílis.

God be kind to Pat as he now swings the hurley with old hurling players on the pitch of Heaven. He was always a fair but tough player who would not give up until the final whistle. He had notable Kilkenny hurling skills, skills which he generously shared with Clondalkin players and a host of other teams while playing in Dublin. Our heartfelt condolences to his wife Patrica and children.

Deepest condolences to all the Denieffe’s on the loss of Pat, we hurled so much together over the years for Towers, Pat was such a good friend and I always loved his company. When I moved home to kilkenny I would meet him painting in Troy’s gate and we would chat for hours as Pat worked away. Same topics, Kilkenny hurling , Dublin hurling and his family, Pat always updated me on how his children were doing, a proud father. You’ll be missed Pat.
Sincere sympathy to Pat and all the Denieffe family on the passing of Paddy. May he rest in peace.
I talked to Pat once or twice a day my whole life. I never called him ‘Paddy’.
I never crossed the yellow line.
I gave him every nut, bolt, and screw I found on the ground. He kept them in a jar.
