So sorry to here about paddy i had some fond memories off him 1 was dat he had a tip for a horse and was running in mallow and it wudnt be beaten so me my da (web) and paddy set sail to mallow by train to back it crack was mighty going down we got there backed nothing till the tip was running we all lump on to it and guess what it was a donkey but a day to remember rest in peace big man

Our condolences to Tess, Seamus and all the Cummins family on the passing of Paddy. The last time I saw Paddy was just outside Paddy Murphys in Ballymore Eustace. Yes Paddy had his moments where jest and fun were number one. One evening coming back from Baltinglass in the very early 1970’s in my dad’s old van Paddy was lying in the back, we came on Garda checkpoint, the usual few questions etc and what have you in the back. A PIG roars Paddy. GO ONN says the Guard in deep baritone voice. Another moment was coming back from Saggart after a visit to a premises and a mysterious smokers pipe appeared out of nowhere and another in Mooneys pub.
Enough said.

He was always such a great neighbour to us, together with Johnny and the late Rose, here in our own little neighbourhood of Bannagroe. Also a great man for the banter. I am saddened to hear of Paddy's death and extend my sympathy to Tess, Seamus and your family; to John and yours and Rose's children on your great loss. On the very last occasion that I met him while shopping in Dunne's Stores, it was the enquiry of the health of others only that concerned him. As teenagers, some of us started to go to Naas Swimming Pool after Sunday Mass and on my maiden voyage ever there, bold Paddy pushed me into the water, fortunately it mustn't have been the deep end but was quite an awakening. Even recently it was not wise being in front of him queuing at the SV or any other shop till, particularly if you happened to have open pockets, the exit alarm would surely detect an illicit Dairy Milk in one and a Twirl in the other that Pam would not have been presented with from the basket as she scanned you free. Back in the late 1960's there were occasions when he would have a few of us for company to grace a Dublin nightspot in the Parnell Square/Cavendish Row area I think it was on a quiet night after football practice, the highlight which would have been the late late stopover up steps to the Last Post down the Liffey somewhere between Ormond Quay and Parkgate Street. Rest in peace Paddy.
