It is with a deep sense of sadness that I heard of the passing of Paddy. In my working days i knew him so well, and he always had such a pleasant personality. May i extend my deepest sympathies to his family and may his gentle soul rest in peace.

Unassuming like his father before him and indeed his then worried mother calling to our shop in Lisselton (Escort estate selling sugar?) as he sat his (final?) University exams - Yes, on my knees, I can still feel his mums gaze and yes, prayers were answered.

Paddy was grand but maybe a world around him had lost it's values; he was old school, pun not intended - he would like that!

A personal regret is that we never got on terms with things literature and that is a loss - I would have had my way but that way would have been changed and for the better.
