Thinking of you all, as we just heard of the recent sad loss of our lovely, always so friendly and smiley, Pal, Joe, may he always be at peace. Caroline, I remember one day, you explained to me how funnily, Joe somehow became your Dad's familiar nickname. Well, to us, growing up, of course, your Dad was always, respectfully, Mr. Gunning, as children's way with their elders in those days but, as we all began to somewhat catchup with him agewise, say our late 50s we felt comfortable then to start calling Mr. Gunning, Joe.

Our memories of all those fun chats at the garden wall, full of joke and laughter will always stay with us. Anne and Joe and all the Gunning family were great friendly neighbours all throughout the decades and especially during Covid years, so caring towards our Mam after our Dad passed. Our thoughts and condolences are with Ann and all the family at this very difficult time 💜🌷

So sorry to hear your sad news, thinking of you all. Paddy was in a painting class with Josie many years ago and she said he was a great painter. There is one of his paintings in our house. In recent years I (Anne) used to have a chat with Paddy when he was out the front garden and I was going out for a walk with the dog. May he rest in peace.

I am sorry to hear of Paddy’s passing. I have so many lovely memories as a child and teen of Paddy teaching me accordion in City Quay, Francis street and James Street. I was terrible but he always made me feel great. Condolences to you all.

We are very sorry to hear of Paddy’s passing. Every Friday night he taught us accordion for years. We have beautiful memories of Paddy conducting the band at the seafront in Howth and the bandstand in Bray.

Very sad to hear of Paddy's passing. He was such a gentleman. He loved having the chats at his gate, especially with our young children. Paddy and Anne were so good, dropping chocolates over every Easter and Christmas to our three. Rest in peace, Paddy.

Sympathies to Clare on the passing of your Dad

Sincere sympathies to all of Paddy’s family.They and all of Palmerstown have lost a most wonderful person who was a great family man ,a brilliant tradesman, a community man who with his good wife Anne developed the Palmerstown Active Retired Assoc.and brought his neighbours on a journey that involved,Art,Music,Dancing,Bowling,Trips to every desirable parts of this country and more.In addition he taught music to local children and children from James St.and Francis St.areas and their accordion band played all over Dublin in every park during the summers with the County Council schemes.
Not enough space to tell of Paddy Gunning achievements and Goodness.He will be welcomed into Heaven to the tune “Old Comrades March”Rita and Paddy were particularly good friends in all these activities and he will be missed by this family.
