It was with deep sadness that we heard that our Uncle Paddy had passed away. Our mother’s big brother, the whole family’s big brother. Someone everyone looked up to.

We were so privileged to know him and to know that he has children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who will continue his legacy.

Dear Uncle Paddy: Growing up in England away from our father Seanie's huge Irish family in Galway, we were always aware that Paddy was the first born of the ten Geoghegan children. Paddy was a gentle soulful mythical loving uncle on every occasion; whether encountered in England or in Ireland, he was humorous interested kind and intriguing.Even though the years and miles could have created distance between us, with Paddy those elements melted away the moment you arrived in his company, and of course Kitty's. I was fortunate to spend magical time with my cousins in Salthill and with Kitty and Paddy. Paddy got stuck in the lift in an Eyre Square hotel on our last get together. He'd popped over to deliver an invitation to me for Sunday lunch in Salthill. He then spent the next forty five minutes lodging a complaint with the hotel manager about health and safety and risk assessments, having got entombed in the lift for twenty minutes. Next day he entertained Kitty and me whilst cooking a great Sunday lunch, dished up with good humour and lots of red wine. A special Salthill day. Condolences to cousins Terence, Antoinette, Marian and Joseph on the passing of your lovely father. He will not be forgotten. Cousin Pauline Geoghegan
