So saddened to hear of Paddy’s passing. He was such a true gentleman and always a wonderful neighbour. One memory I will always cherish is when my brother Jamie got a spin on the famous tractor and I was upset I missed out. A few days later, on a frosty morning on our way to school, Paddy pulled up to the house with a teddy bear just for me. His kindness and thoughtfulness was unmeasurable. He was so good to our family over the years, RIP Paddy

Paddy was a friend of my late father, Fintan McDonnell, and a frequent, welcome visitor to our home during my childhood. I have many happy memories of his visits, often filled with laughter and games of cards—mostly twenty-five. I also remember his excitement at meeting his beloved Mary. He supported my mother during the final hours of my father’s life, a true mark of his kindness and loyalty.

As Wordsworth wrote, “The best portion of a good man’s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.”
