Patrick (Paddy) Maher

I only heard the sad news today. Paddy was a true gent and helped me through my ham radio exams in the late 80s. Listened to him reading the ham radio news “as gaelige”

Paddy in my first ever science class you thought me that energy never dies it simply transforms from one state into another. I am sure you will be with us all especially when we are singing. Condolences to your beautiful family we are all blessed to have had you in our lives.

Paddy was one of those special people who brings a smile to your face just by thinking of him. His dedication to his students and public service was second to none. Everyone in the VEC and ETB offices in Wicklow held Paddy in such high regard. I will light a candle in Mount Argus in his memory - he told me before that this church, which I live near, is close to his heart.

Deepest sympathy to all the Maher family on Paddy's passing. I, like many others have very fond memories of him from my time in the Wicklow Tech in the mid 1970s. He was a very dedicated and encouraging biology teacher and was in no small part responsible for my following a career in science. He also gave his heart and soul to the camogie teams and valued everyone's participation equally and he gave up much of his own personal time ensuring that 'us girls from out the country' were brought home to our own doors after training and matches. He will be fondly remembered by many.

Wicklow VEC and I saw at first hand his dedication and commitment to students in Abbey Community College and latterly Gaelcholáiste na Mara. He continued that great work as a Board member of Co.
