Deepest Sympathies to his beloved and loving family. I cant say i had the privilege of knowing Paddy well but i did have the pleasure of a few minor engagements with him, in the course of my former employment so when i saw his lovely face up on rip today, it brought back the memories of how lovely he was to meet, how remarkably vivacious, alert, lively, interested and interesting he remained throughout his senior years. I first met Paddy Murphy when I joined Dunmore Badminton back in the 1980s. At that time, he was part of the soul of the Club and involved in all things badminton. He loved the game whether in competitive play or at Club Nights and Tournaments. He was omnipresent and extended a warm welcome to all new members.
When not on court, Paddy was a great Clubman. He had been there from the early days and always gave generously of his time and expertise to the establishment and maintenance of the Club hall.
Paddy was held in great affection by so many club members past and present, and this despite the fact that he moaned and complained(sometimes quite a bit!). However, this kept us all on our toes and pushed us to complete whatever task was required to ensure the future of his beloved Dunmore Badminton Club.
You’ll have plenty of badminton friends in your new home Paddy - it’s time to set up a heavenly Tuesday Club, and hopefully there’ll be tea and cream cakes after the games!
You were one of a kind Paddy. Rest peacefully. You’ll be well remembered at DBC.
