I'm very sad to hear of Paddy's passing a lovely man I had a lung transplant 7years ago and only paddy had told his story on the I.L.F.A web site I would be long gone Paddy's advice saved my life .Thanks Paddy rest in peace my friend Sincere Condolences to paddys family .

Dear Pauline, Barry, Niamh and Family. I have only heard of Paddy’s passing today and am heartbroken for you and your family.
As well as having a distinguished career with Dublin Fire Brigade Paddy also served as Chairman of the Irish Heart & Lung Transplant Association.
I first met Paddy in DCU when like me he was trying to raise his core fitness in the gym there just in case a lung transplant became a possibility .
That possibility came through and Paddy enjoyed additional years in which he lived his life to the full.
On behalf of the IHLTA, I send our condolences and salute a life well lived in the service of others.

Sand Piper 54 - I had the pleasure of working with Paddy, he was a true gentleman and one of a kind. He was respectful and good humoured. He once re-enacted using an imaginary tommy gun that he received as a child and as he cocked the gun and pulled the trigger I could see that moment alive in his eyes, he was that child again. He travelled a difficult path with such dignity. He will be fondly remembered.

So sorry to hear the news of Paddy`s passing, in all the years i have known him, he only ever spoke lovingly of his Family and Dublin fire brigade, his dogs ,his pigeons and how lucky he was in life. Well I think the lucky one`s are those that had the pleasure to have met him. Condolences at this sad time to Pauline and family.

It is with the greatest sorrow and shock - that I have just heard of the passing of my really good mate - Retired District Officer - Paddy O'Mahony - Tara Street Fire Station - Dublin fire brigade - Paddy was one of those rare people - who you met for the first time and really could call a friend - I first met Paddy on a cold day in Kilbarrack Fire Station - on our first day in the service - and I was delighted to watch his career take off - when they came up with the word Gentleman it was Paddy that they were talking about - doe small in statue he certainly made up for with the biggest heart - Sleep tight Paddy - your shift is over - lots of love and best wishes - Rest In Peace - your old mate Buzzer

Deepest condolences to Pauline, all of Paddy's family and many friends. Paddy was such a brilliant man, a fantastic Officer, a very fair man who said it straight. Always made me laugh, couldn't look him in the eye without him having me in stitches.The time spent working with him on D Watch Finglas was the most memorable of my time in the DFB. A very special type of boss that you would do anything for, no questions asked as his experience and knowledge was phenomenal. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. RIP Paddy.

Paddy was a great and loyal friend since February 1978 when we met as recruits with DFB. He will be remembered for his outstanding integrity throughout his long career and for for the dignity he consistently displayed throughout his illness.
He will be missed by all those whose lives were touched by him.
