Grandad,

When I think of you, I have many fond memories from my childhood. You remind me of all the good stuff, multi-pack taytos, 7-up (often flat!), USA biscuits tins and roast chicken dinners.

I don’t think a scientist could have dissected a bird quite like you did! You were a great cook and without fail I was always left wanting more!

I remember you gardening, tending to your flowers, rhubarb and always tinkering with something. Rarely, if ever, do I remember you actually sitting down. You were always on the move.

Mostly, this movement revolved around Nan. One minute you both would be bickering over the name of something and the next you’d be putting her tea or coffee and food on a tray and serving it to her room.

You were beyond dedicated and loyal, something I greatly admired throughout the years.

You picked Con and I up from many places, horse-riding, swimming, school and later, the side of the road when our starter cars broke down!

I appreciate the last card you sent to us to congratulate us on Ellie. She’s a little star you would have loved her. I’ll be sure to tell her about you when she’s older.

RIP Grandad, I like to think of your soul finally reunited with your beloved Nancy at last.

Congratulations Anne on delivering an excellent eulogy today for 'everyone's friend' Paddy Skehan. My first encounter with Paddy was many years ago when I went looking for a loan to stock my shop in Thomastown. It was Paddys job at the local credit union to interview me and I am forever grateful to him for not only passing me for my loan but offering me more if I ever needed it. That was the Paddy I knew. He always put your mind at ease. His easy going disposition endeared him to all. My later dealings with him at Walshes garage and his many visits to my shop were ALWAYS positive and he was a person I loved to see coming in. Easy to deal with and a lovely chat.
To All the Skehans I share your loss as do all the people of Thomastown and May Paddy Now Rest In Peace. Sim.

My own memories go back to his wedding day, when he married Nancy Cahill in Inistioge(1961)I think? Lovely pretty little wedding. not like the big ones of today. I have a photo of the Church on that day .
