Patrick (Pat) Armstrong

I’ve only just heard about Pat’s passing. I’m so saddened. He produced a CD for me in June 1996. He was wonderful in the studio. A huge loss of a huge talent. I’ll always be grateful. Thanks Pat.

I was saddened to hear the news of Pat's passing. I have fond memories of him in Dublin in the 70s at the Coffee Kitchen, the Universal, the Letterkenny folk festival with the Somertons and many other places. He had great talent and great wit and I am thankful that to have known him for a few years. My deepest sympathies to his family

I remember Pat with great affection from our times in the Dublin folk scene around 1980 - the Coffee Kitchen, the Buskers Club and my own gig in the International Bar where he was one of my guest artists . Mike, Larry and the Armstrong family, so sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. He was such a good guy with a great sense of humour. He had a great love and knowledge of motor sport and enjoyed organising and supporting events. His great passion for music also saw him inviting Mary Black to the Mansion House for the launch of the Leinster Trophy meeting and of course enjoyed frightening the wits out of her with a ride at speed around Stephen’s Green. Great memories. My thoughts are with the family at this time.

Sincere condolences to the Armstrong family on the passing of Pat. We didn't know Pat personally, but Pat would always say hello whilst reading his paper in Costa Monread on a Saturday morning.

So hard to believe that Pat, the third member of the Armstong family has been taken away from us, so suddenly. From the time he arrived in the Coffee Kitchen in the 1960's, as a very young teenager with "The Sommertons" , he was a musical prodigy. Thanks for all the music you gave us and the fun we all had together, whether it was on the hills of Wicklow or in one of the basement folk clubs of the time. May you rest in peace and make some more class music in your new celestial abode.

We still hadn't come to terms with the loss of the beautiful Claire, not long after the loss of Mike's lovely sister Tina, when Pat then left us - a huge chunk of our lives taken away within two months. We had lost touch with Pat since our youth hostel days, when he was a large part of our lives, until we met him at Tina's 70th birthday party.
