Although we have never met or spoken, I have heard so many wonderful stories over the years about Mam’s Uncle Pad in Australia. Our mum, Tina Farrell (Bonham) — John’s daughter — always spoke with such fondness and affection for Uncle Pad and his wife Rhonda. It was clear from her stories how deeply she admired him and how special their connection was, even from across the world.

When I saw his picture, it immediately brought back memories of our grandad, John (Sonny). The resemblance between the two is striking — two men cut from the same cloth, not only in looks but in the warmth and kindness that seemed to radiate from them. I can just imagine the two of them reunited now, sharing stories, laughter, and memories as they once did.

Though distance and time may have kept many of us apart, family ties run deep, and Uncle Pad’s passing reminds us how strong those bonds truly are. His memory will live on through all the stories, love, and connections that span generations and continents.

Reaching 99 years was a remarkable testament to a life well lived, full of moments, wisdom, shared memories and love that will resonate through the generations he leaves behind him.
