Deepest sympathy to Mary, Sorcha,Owen and extended family on the death of Pat. In my early years in Social Care i had the pleasure of listening to Pat discuss the needs of children and his vision for the development of residential care. When Pat spoke everyone listened, what a wonderful man.

Rest in peace Pat Brennan!! I having been exposed to Pat as a professional facilitator guiding and advising us -social care workers - over a week of him pulling out of us what he never doubted was there. Subsequently in my own S/C work I exercised sometimes consciously and unconsciously the principles and values he guided me to! Pat was to me when I first met him -a beacon of hope and a breath of fresh air he allowing me to have confidence in my professional privilege of working with young people. I didn’t always succeed but I never stopped trying and learning how to do better by people. To Mary his wife , Sorcha and Eoin — Thank you for sharing such a great man and loving father with those of us who encountered Pat. Peace be his bed .Mike Walsh(Kilkenny City)

I too came to know Pat in Kilkenny in some amazing years there and later. In lecture rooms, up hills and over lovely meals and more.
However Pat may change that 'quiet keeping' with his amazing laugh!

Every now and then a person emerges whose vision is of a better world and whose charisma inspires others to fulfill this. Pat was such a person. I knew him through my wife Mary attending that unique course/encounter in Sion Road in 1980/81 where he was personally kind to me; and through various conferences and meetings with the AWCC from its fledging days, later the IACW, where his lectures and contribution always challenged and encouraged. He had a deep conviction that even the most traumatized and damaged young people could be nurtured into fulfilling their potential, the essence of this work being love. He motivated us as professional care workers to be the best we could be, repeatedly reminding us that our “most important resource in this work was our unique personality”. His legacy will endure long after memory fades.

There are so many beautiful words here about Pat and what a wordsmith was he ! I consider it a blessing that I met Pat in ‘72-‘73 in Kilkenny and that his love of the mountains connected with myself and Tony who told me that Pat had the classic Alpine pace on the hills .

I have great memories of Pat , his train collection was a sight to behold!, you could always rely on him for his knowledge of bush craft which Owen and myself would put to the test on a hike he would take us on up a mountian or into some forest. It was a privilage to have known Pat for a good number of years and to have shared the eucharist
with him on many occasions. I regret that I am unable to attend Pat's Funeral Service on Thursday at 11am in St. Mary's Church, Kells, owing to a medical appointment.
