For Pat.

Down by the Shannon where soft waters gleam,
Stood a warm cosy house where time was serene.
On the banks of the Shannon, wrapped in laughter and light,
I found safety and comfort from morning 'till night.

Mummum cared for me with hands gentle and true,
A second family I found, as the years slowly grew.
Michelle and Melissa, treated me with a sisterly embrace,
Made that home away from home my favourite place.

And Pat ever friendly, with a grin full of cheer,
A warmth in his presence that drew everyone near.
I’d sit on his lap while he sipped on his tea,
Feeling cherished and happy, as safe as could be.

And up in his truck, where the world seemed so wide,
I felt ten feet tall just sitting inside.
So high off the ground, it was magic to me,
He was a gentle giant in my eyes, a core childhood memory.

Although Pat has journeyed ahead on a more peaceful road,
His laughter still echoes in the stories he told.
By the banks of the Shannon, where gentle winds roam,
He lives in our hearts,
And forever in my second home.

I am sorry to read of Pats passing and sympathise with Emily and all his family at this very sad time. I got to know Pat through the Galwaymens association over 40 years ago and always enjoyed meeting him and the odd chat we had whenever we met in town. Hard to believe the years have gone by and he has gone to his eternal reward. May he rest in peace
