Our Deepest condolence to Marian and Peter and the Finnegan for the loss of Pats,May he rest in peace!
I was so sad to hear this news. Pat was a gentleman and a fine colleague. We worked together at the ICIS Doctoral Consortium. He was always collegial, good-natured, ready to help, and ready to laugh. It seems completely unfair that he has passed away, but I know he would want me to say something more positive than that. He was a good man who added light to our lives.
Deepest condolences to the Finnegan family. Vey sad news and an untimely loss of a brilliant mind and a warm colleague. A big loss to the information systems community worldwide.
My deepest condolences and sympathies to Peter and Marian, and to the rest of the Finnegan Family. I am so sorry for your loss.
I was one of the many who was lucky enough to have the chance to be inspired by Pat - first as a student, then as a tutor, then as a researcher, and finally as a friend. Pat was extraordinary, both as a researcher and as a person. Each and every time you met Pat, you knew that he truly believed in you and dedicated himself entirely to your success, humbly and lovingly helping you get there. You always knew that Pat was your guardian angel ensuring that you did not lose your way.
Pat once said “There will always be problems. Come to me with any problem and we will always sort it out together.” He never strayed from this promise, always helping you with humor, positivity, and passion.
Pat was extraordinary. I will forever remember him. May he rest in peace.

Deepest sympathies to Marian, Peter and families on the loss of your beloved brother and uncle. Pat was a kind, honest, and immensely talented man who wore his many achievements lightly. He was a true gentleman and a wonderful friend. Witty, generous, a great listener and full of fun, he enriched the lives of those of us who were fortunate enough to have known him. The world was a brighter place for having him in it. May he rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to the finnegan family RIP
I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to all of Pat’s family, especially to Marian, Peter and families on the loss of your brother and uncle. He always spoke with great fondness about his family and he adored his nieces and nephews.
I first met Pat in 2001 when I ended up sharing a house in Cork with himself and another friend Clodagh. From the start there was great banter between us. We had great laughs and chats together, in between watching rubbish tv with a glass of champagne. (only sometimes) That few years of house sharing turned into a life long friendship for all three of us.
Not only was he great fun to be with, Pat was a kind and loyal friend and a great listener. I will never forget the kindness he showed to me when I was a patient in hospital over the years. Many’s the evening he helped me to pass there, where we chatted about everything and nothing. Nor will I forget all the help he gave to me when I bought my first home. His handyman skills knew no bounds-never was a curtain rail hung so straight!
I will miss my friend. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to all of Pat's family. I know Pat for many years and we were great friends. I first met Pat when I got lost in UCC trying to find the BIS discipline. He was the first person I met and I always remember his big, welcoming smile. Pat went on to supervise my Masters and PhD and I could not have asked for a better supervisor or mentor. He was simply the best, a 'true academic' as many referred to him. We became great friends over the years and I have such great memories of trips to conferences in Vietnam, Sydney, Barcelona and many other places with Pat. He spoke so highly of his family, above all his nieces and nephews. I felt like I knew them. He was a very modest and private person but this added to his charm. Above all, he was so loyal and you could depend on him for anything. Goodbye for now Pat - I wish you a bed of heaven.
Sincere sympathy to you all on the sad passing of Pat. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Thinking of you all during this difficult time.
