You know, back in the 80s, I think I must have driven Pat mad, whenever I visited Shane in the Chalet.
These were magical days for children - with no phones, and only what our imaginations could make of our tiny village world.
Pat would have come home from work, and probably just wanted some peace and quiet.
I'd arrive and Beauty, their dog, would immediately go bonkers and start to remove my shoes.
And the mayhem would commence.
I believe I was barred from the house, several times.
I didn't blame Julia.
Was I that bad?
I probably was, I suppose.
But, you know, I think Pat did enjoy all the chaos, because I do remember him smiling, despite all the activity in such a small space.
I do remember Deirdre coming along on numerous road trips with our family, with my mother at the wheel.
Happy times.
And then, with the passing of time, we drifted our separate ways.
With different schools.
And University.
And jobs.
And boyfriends.
And girlfriends.
And husbands.
And wives.
And children.
And grandchildren
You know - grown up things.
And that, is life.
And that, is what Pat helped create.

So sorry to hear the sad news and sincere condolences to Deirdre and all the family on the loss of Pat . May the memories of happy times together help ye through these sad days . May he rest in peace.
