I had the pleasure of knowing Pat for the last 20 years. He thought me how to ride, break and look after horses. We had some great times especially with the more 'difficult ones'

I only met Paddy a few times before I moved back to England but I wrote to him and visited several times when I was in Ireland. I can honestly say he was one of the most magical people I have ever met. I bought a horse, Maggie (Belles daughter) from him and his kindness, wisdom and joy for living enriched my life so much. I treasure every moment I spent with him. The world is a poorer place without him. My sincere condolences to all his family.

Sincere condolences to Pat’s family. A man apart! Full of stories and so knowledgeable about horses. My friend Jan bought a mare, Maggie, from him in the 1990’s and subsequently brought her back to the UK when her husband’s job was relocated there. Maggie died, aged 28 and was much loved.

The many stories he would tell when he was helping me with a horse or giving Andrew a riding lesson, made the whole thing a joyful experience particularly when on occasions lines of either Irish or English poetry were quoted. His knowledge and love of nature was inspiring. His love of life and horses and particularly of the Connemara pony whose temperament and sure footedness was everything, he would say. He certainly bonded with the horse. Now may he rest in peace with his beloved Pauline of whom he so fondly spoke. We will certainly miss his friendship.Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
