Patrick (Pat) Lawlor

To the Lawlor family, may we extend our belated and deepest condolences following Pat's passing. He was an absolute gentleman and a very good friend to both my mum and dad. Even more poignant is the fact he died only four days before my ma, for which we want to thank the Lawlor family for their lovely words.

My deepest sympathy to Phil and the Lawlor family at the sad loss of Paddy. There was a time when a spell with Paddy on the mobile library was an important rite of passage for all new recruits to the county library service. I never worked regularly on his route but whenever I did he was unfailingly helpful , giving all the necessary assistance at busy stops with , in a low key way, much useful advice. That working relationship was invaluable on a mobile library which , of necessity , operated as but a two person time in mainly confined settings.
Paddy and I had a mutual interest in Irish politics and we had much fun at election time predicting the destination of the final seats , making the right call on many occasions. Back in 1997 he rang me while on holiday abroad to hear that his beloved Fianna Fáil were returning to power after a three year hiatus.
