RIP Pat.

I just heard of Pat’s death. I knew him from my time in Cavan County Museum and found him a lovely and very knowledgeable man. I’m very sorry to hear this very sad news. Rest in Peace Pat.

I only learned of Pat's passing through the pages of the Anglo-Celt. I remember his affable nature, tremendous interest in bringing all communities together and keen support and encouragement for a better understanding of Fraternal Orders in Ireland. Requiescat in Pace, Pat.

He also regaled me on many occasions with accounts of his trips to Argentina and Westmeath’s links with Argentina. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace.

So sorry to read about Pat’s departing his earthly life …so sad for you Philomena that you and Pat didn’t grow old together but it wasn’t to be … he will walk beside you every day in Spirit.:.. he was one of a kind ….an honest Christian man …. he helped other Presbyterian parishes and never looked for credit …. My sympathy to Philomena on his passing.

We were classmates in Ballinafad College and the last time I saw him was June 67 after the history exam.

I have memories of him as a gentle young man who was brilliant at history.

It is lovely to read the wonderful tributes to him on this page. He certainly has left a legacy.

We are so sorry to learn of Pat's death. He was, for many years, very much part of the Cavan community as Adult Education Officer. It was his energy and foresight in that role which led to the formation of Cavan Singers in 1984.

I first met Pat in Ballinafad College, Co Mayo in 1962. We started out as boarders together. Pat was a keen historian and quite political, with a sense of social justice.
