Sincere sympathies to the O'Neill family. Pat was one of a kind x
Sincere condolences to Pat's family and friends. I worked with him in the Wexford office for a number of years. As others have noted, he was always a positive friendly presence and a really nice person to chat with on an infinite number of issues. RIP Pat.

Deepest sympathy to the O'Neill family on the death of Pat may he rest in peace.
Deepest sympathy to the O'Neill family on your great loss with the passing of Pat, all too soon. We miss him and we will remember him fondly for the rest of our lives.
I worked with Pat for over 22 years, first meeting him in Ag House, Kildare St in Autumn 1998 where we were being trained-in for the big move to Johnstown Castle in Summer 1999. Pat worked in Early Retirement Section and I worked in REPS Section. We both arrived at the same time every day, to clock-in for the 10am shift.
In 2008, as long-serving EOs, we qualified to transfer to the new branch of the Dept of the Environment (now Housing) at Newtown Road, Wexford. Pat and I were the first ground troops to land on the foreshore at Johnstown Castle (joining the Foreshore Section which was being transferred from the Dept of Agriculture in Clonakilty).
My diary entry for Wednesday, 19th November 2008 states that "Pat O'Neill and myself gave short talks to the new EOs/HEOs in Foreshore Section (about the work of the section from our brief experience)"
Pat and I worked together in Foreshore Section in close proximity for the next 13 years. Being faithful members of the 10am crew meant that we were also on the late shift in the evenings when the office emptied out, with perhaps just two or three of us remaining. It's fair to say that the companionable silence was often punctuated by conversations that ranged far and wide on an inexhaustible range of subjects!
God rest you Pat.

My deepest condolences to Pat's family on his loss. Pat was one of life's originals, always truly and wholly himself. Every encounter I had with him made me smile. His eccentric wit was unique. He seemed to me to be a fixture in the office, and I find it hard to believe that I will never again see him loping down the corridor towards me on his way to the photocopier and always with a great sense of urgency. His presence will linger for many of us in the Wexford office. He will be remembered with love and missed greatly.
Deepest sympathies to the O’Neill family. Pat was a true gentleman a great friend and colleague with endless knowledge. He will be greatly missed in the office. May he rest in peace.
