I had the pleasure of meeting Pat at his house last year, when we were researching the blacksmiths and forged gates of North East Galway. It was fascinated listening to Pat tell the stories of his family and the knowledge he had of his local area. He was a true local historian, a person to look up to and to be admired for his love and knowledge of his native place and his people. May Pat rest in peace
