Dear Máirin, just got your letter today Jan. 28, with the sad news.
Our belated sympathy and condolences from the three of us......
Belated sympathy and condolences to you Mairin on the recent passing of your beloved husbad Pat. May he rest in peace
Heartfelt Condolences Máirín on the sad passing of your beloved husband Pat a pure gentleman & to his brother Tom & extended family.
Your stories Máirín & your fantastic adventures together on your bikes all the yrs touring around the country & behond never a cross word ever between you most people could be jealous of such a bond, Bless.
I rem the time u said to Pat on one of your tours on the bikes let’s look for the Waterfall when u saw a sign & eventhough Pat said don’t think there’s a Waterfall but kept going to check for you @ low & behold Pat was right it was an area called ‘Waterfall’ that’s just some of your fantastic memories which could be put into a book or your old job u loved Máirín in ‘The Times’ paper & both of you never ever forgot to send letters of appreciation to people u stayed with in their B & B all the years that takes time & thoughtfulness.
You didn’t want to leave Máirín or family you fought your illness with silent dignity with your best friend Máirín by your side.
Rest in Peace Pat & so glad we got to meet
We extend our sincere sympathy to you, Máirín, on the great loss of Pat - and to his brother and extended family. Pat's Requiem Mass in St. Michael's Inchicore was a beautiful tribute to Pat and to you. The Oblate Father spoke in superlatives about Pat and the music and choir were just outstanding. Pat would have been very proud. It was a lovely thought to display the photographs of your lovely life together with the one of Pat standing in that beautiful scene on his bicycle looking back at us. It was very poignant. The young Kilkenny lady (a neighbour's "child") gave a marvelous eulogy which gave a very strong message that Pat never forgot his roots. We always enjoyed Pat's and your company at the many Conradh na Gaeilge functions over the years in Emmet Hall. Beidh Padraig in ár gcuimhne go deo. Beannacht Dé ort Máirín.
So sorry Máirín to learn of the death of your dear Pat, fear fíor uasal.
He was a great supporter of the Clé Club over the years. Ar dheis Dé go raibh sé.

Its with great sadness we learned of Pat's passing from Mairin today. Pat and Mairin Mc Grath were absolute legends in The NCBI Blazing Saddles Charity Cycling Team (now Vision Ireland) for over 30 plus years.

Everyone in cycling on this island knew Pat and Mairin......they were two peas in a pod always!
They raised and donated much needed funds for our cause The National Council For the Blind of Ireland. We hope Mairin has the strength and resilience to get through these very difficult and sad times.
On behalf of Blazing Saddles cycling team leaders Sean Kelly and Philip Cassidy and the thousands of cyclists who cycled with Pat and Mairin we offer our deepest condolences to the McGrath family, relatives and friends.
Ar dheis de go raibh a ainm dilis!
