I was very sad to hear of Paddy's passing. I have fond memories walking up the Slate Cabin Lane with Paddy and others 3 or 4 abreast singing all sorts of songs in 3 part harmony. My condolences to all his family and especially to Monica who I also have fond memories of our schooldays at Sandyford. God bless you all.

In our family of 8 ,we had 2 leaders,one is my sister and then there was Paddy.Paddy was involved in church and community.When he got an idea in his head,we would think ,this will never happen,but it always did,because Paddy would draw so many people in to make it so from baby’s in prams to those on walking sticks,and wouldn’t take no for an answer
Paddy could converse with Prince or Pauper and would respect them equally.

My heartfelt condolences to Monica and all the family on the passing of Paddy. He will be deeply missed by so many, as he touched the hearts and minds of generations.
His grandson asked us to share our stories of Paddy at the funeral which I thought was a beautiful idea, so here’s one of mine.
I don’t think I would be the confident person I am today without the gift that Paddy instilled in me through his guidance and encouragement to get on the stage as a teenager. Taking part in musicals such as Smike, Oliver and The Wizard of Oz, the craic we had with Paddy at the helm was priceless. Now don’t get me wrong, he drove me mad as he wouldn’t always remember his lines and was fond of ad-libbing which would test anyone’s acting skills LOL. But even that thought me to be better in myself.
He and Monica always had an open door to come and chat, even when they didn’t agree with our points of view, they wouldn’t dismiss it but rather open it up for discussion. We would sit around the centre fire in their Kilternan home and talk for hours.
The world has a gapping hole without you Paddy but I know that your spirit remains strong through your children and grandchildren and all those you impacted. Rest in Peace Uncle Paddy.

I have many fond memories of our times in the childrens choir with him. The Easter Sunday morning sun rise trips to the beach on Sandeel Bay. Paddy was always first there with the fire going only hanging for the cooked sausages. Where ever you met Paddy he always had an infectious smile and greeting for you and always had time to stopped to chat. Paddy you will be deeply missed. May you Rest in peace.
