Dear Hilary, Sarah & Ben. My sympathy & condolences go out to you all following Pat's passing away.

You all will be in my prayers, going forward.
We are very happy to met this kind and humoristic Patrick. Also Hilary and now are our thoughts remembering this great time we had together.
Our sincere sympathy to Hilary and all his fine family on the sad loss of Pat. It was always a pleasure to meet him, his charm originality and sense of fun almost belied his depth and spiritual searching. May he rest in peace.
Sending Hilary and all the family our sympathies. I had many enjoyable conversations with Patrick over the years, he seemed endlessly curious and interested in everyone and everything. He gave me some excellent training advice when we got our first dog many years ago. He showed such kindness to us and to our animals always. You all gave him a wonderful send off in the Victorian Chapel in Mount Jerome and it was a privilege to be able to join you via webcam.
Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with you, Hilary, at this very sad time. When we last saw Pat, he was already marked by illness, yet he would not allow us to feel sad. Instead, with his wonderful warmth and generosity, he lifted our spirits and treated us to a lovely meal at your Club in Dublin.
Pat was such a remarkable man — kind, open-minded, and gentlemanly. We treasure the many happy memories we shared with him: the laughter, the stories he told during your visits to Kempten/ Germany, and the joy he brought when welcoming us to Ireland.
Please know that you are very much in our thoughts these days. We share your sorrow and wish you strength and comfort in the days ahead.

Patrick was such a beacon to our family. He and Hilary took our daughter under his wing when she arrived as a foreign student at Trinity College. He was noted for his pastoral kindness. We found him to be also a fabulous font of knowledge about family history, as well as a tour guide to Canadian visitors and a witty author. Rest in Peace, cousin Patrick.
So very sorry to hear of Patrick's death, Hilary, and I do hope you are being well supported through this time.
I hear Brian Whiteside is conducting the funeral, which is v appropriate, and I look forward to attending online.
Please let me know if I can help in any way. I'm only up the road in Dalkey and see Sue Elliott every now and then.
With deepest sympathy and good memories -
Ginnie

Very sad news, condolences to Hillary, Sarah and Ben. I'll always have very fond memories of Pat, a very kind, generous and understanding man.
I first heard of Patrick when contacted by a German friend from our twin town, Kempten. She had heard a short story being read on Lyric Fm radio and requested a copy of the story to study with her English classes in Kempten. We eventually put her in contact with Patrick and he was subsequently invited to do a reading of his work in Kempten. He visited Kempten on several occasions and made many friends there. He helped organise a concert by the Kempten Orthodox Liturgical Choir in St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin in 2019. His last visit to Kempten was in August 2024 when he and Hilary, despite an intense August heatwave, made a special visit to a friend who was suffering ill health at the time and who passed away a short while later.
Patrick is fondly remembered by all who met him during his visits to Kempten. My condolences to Hilary and to the extended Semple family.Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal.
