To my lovely brother, You were the apple of our Dad’s eye. We spoke of your relationship recently & all the lovely memories you had. Dad was very proud of you. My big brother my cot rocker, you physically had to rock the cot from side to side while singing Mull of Kintyre the only song I allowed you to sing! You loved music but it had to played at a deafening level! When I hear a song I have no business knowing I know all the words because of you. As a single Mam to Aaron you’d do anything for me. I won’t forget the time my dishwasher died & you had a new one delivered you were always so generous just like Dad. You oozed intelligence & knew so much about so many things. You told me “I’m the most intelligent interesting person you know” & I agreed with you. So cocky & confident! You were a good son brother husband & Dad, you loved them all so much, all our lives are darker now without you. I travelled behind you today outside your home there was a tiny robin & he stayed there watching me till I drove on. I’m sure it was you watching as we brought you to be laid to rest beside Dad. Martina is so devastated, it was so incredibly hard on her that she couldn’t be here, but she was with you every moment of your final journey, she loved you very much. Our last hug and kiss we had in person you told me how much you loved me & I’m so glad you knew how much I loved you. Rest easy Patrick look over us all. I’ll see you in my dreams, all my love forever & always your baby sister Jane

Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you. For an interval. Somewhere. Very near. Just around the corner.

In remembrance of my brother Patrick Slevin, Pre-deceased by his father Patrick Slevin Snr.
Patrick was one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. He was articulate, well read and an expert on many subjects. If he was interested in something he would read everything about it and research it until he knew the topic inside out.

He was a past pupil of Drimnagh Castle and attended Bolton Street Tech, where he excelled and was apprentice of the year for a couple of years running. He was so talented and an expert in his chosen field. You could describe what you wanted, and he could make it with the briefest of details and basic measurements.

He loved music, all genres, and had very eclectic tastes.

He was generous to a fault and would never pass a homeless person without giving them some money or buying them something to eat and drink. He would talk to them and treat them with the dignity they never received. When he bought you a gift he thought about who you were and what you were interested in. I still have every gift he ever bought me (except for the watch ring).

He loved going into antique stores and junk shops and never left empty handed buying the strangest things.

My mother and father were so very proud of him. We will all miss him forever, a brilliant talented life gone far too soon.

Rest easy little brother you will always be in our hearts. Desperately missed by his eldest sister Sonia, Martina, and baby sister Jane.
