Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Imelda, daughter Patrice, son Francis, sisters Margaret, Celia, Bridie and brother Gerry, and nieces and nephews and grandchildren and to all extended Smyth families. He worked and lived with my decesed father George in Coventry and in London. I say many of laugh and stories they had. A good worker and a good footballer and a true gentleman. I met Pat not that long ago and he was telling me stories of his and my father's time in London. He will be sadly missed by one and all may he rest in peace.

He achieved so very much during his life which was cut short on December 12 th. We all remember the wonderful smile sense of humour generosity and craic in the family . A true family and community man ,so helpful and thoughtful always . He leaves a wonderful family which is his legacy to you . The funeral Mass in Cricklewood was a glorious tribute to him dozens of people prepared to stand outside in freezing cold to be part of Pats requiem Mass , the love and warmth of the reception and the heart warming stories and great photos. afterwards. Pat your smile will stay with us always your great work here is done you can now enjoy eternal rest in your new Heavenly Home . We pray for strength for the family to bear such a loss . God rest you Pat .

The family death notice of Pat Smyth sums up, in a few well-chosen sentences the type of honourable gentleman Pat was, the man we all knew and respected, while the condolences posted all concur with the particular esteem in which he was held by everyone who met him. Though emigrating at a young age, he adapted well to a different life in England, but never lost sight of his family or the people or the countfyside of Aughnasheelin or Leitrim. How fitting that he and Imelda named their son Francie Smyth-surely after his grandfather- and somehow Pat managed to persuade his wife to name their daughter Patrice - as near to his own name as he could get!
