Our heartfelt sympathy to Moira, Alma,Roma, Valarie and Frank on the sad passing of your beloved Pat. Pat was an absolute gentleman who was always friendly and courteous whenever you met him and it was a pleasure to meet him at Bridge every week. He was a great friend of my Dad Bill and they were Bridge partners for many years and represented Ireland at the European Bridge Championships in Monte Carlo in 1985. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy to Pat’s wife Moira, daughters, son and the extended Stokes family on the sad loss of Pat. He will be fondly remembered in Newhill, having been a great friend to both our late father Jerry and brother Shep, sharing knowledge of all things agriculture. In the early 80s, they entered a partnership with Seamus O’Grady to purchase a slurry spreader, which is still in situ in Newhill today. May you find comfort in the memories shared in all Pat’s interests over the lonely days ahead.

Pat Stokes RIP wore the Red and Gold jersey of Moycarkey Borris with distinction in his youth. A skilful and committed player Pat is first referenced in the club’s GAA story with Paddy Croke, Larry and Billy Dowling as our best players in the Mid Minor Hurling Final of 1949. The following year Pat was chosen in the half back line on the Moycarkey Borris Senior Hurling team. Maintaining his place on the Senior team throughout the 1950’s Pat was one of our most consistent players. In 1953 he played on the Mid Tipperary team in the Miller Shield. In 1955 he played wng back in the Mid Senior Hurling Final versus Sarsfields. Pat was also on the Senior team of 1958 that acquitted themselves steadfastly versus the same opposition. After his playing days ended in the early 1960’s Pat remained a steadfast supporter of the club throughout his lifetime. Our sympathies to Moira, Alma, Roma, Valerie, Frank and all the family. May Pat rest in peace.
