Termonfeckin has lost one of its great characters and St Fechins GFC mourns the passing of a former great player and clubman in Patrick 'Warrior' Duff.
His service to his club, St Fechins, was total and along with his four brothers, Kevin, Tommy, Nicky and Jim, the Duff family were synonymous with the St Fechins club throughout their lifetime.
He was so proud of his captaincy of the Louth Junior team of 1966, who beat Kildare in the Leinster final and were beaten by Cork in the All Ireland semi final.
The Duff family residence on the Strand Road in the village of Termonfeckin was the focal point for many footballers and friends during those very happy days. I was privileged to be one of those who spent many happy hours in the Duff family home.
This tradition was carried on by Patrick and his family and I never passed the Duff house on my walks, without dropping in and having a chat with 'The Warrior' with the usual hospitality & craic liberally dispensed by Patrick's beloved wife Frances.
Whilst Patrick's demise will be greatly lamented by the GAA family and his many friends, it is his beloved family, to whom he was devoted, will be devastated at his departure. To his beloved wife, Frances, his adored daughters, Annemarie, Michelle and Patricia we offer profound condolences and to the extended Duff family we sympathise with you all during this extremely sad time.

We have many great memories in the company of Patrick & Frances in Morgan’s pub and in their home in Termonfeckin. The Warrior was one of life’s characters, always up for a bit of fun, once the serious business of golf balls was out of the way. Frances, Annemarie, Michelle, Patricia and the wider family, we are thinking of you at this sad and difficult time. RIP Patrick.

This makes me sad. School friends from our earliest days in Termonfeckin and, as children, at times enemies too! May Patrick rest in peace.
