Patsy Caffrey

I wanted to offer my condolences to the Caffrey family on the loss of Paddy. I only heard about the sad news, I wish I could have said goodbye properly.
I became friends with Paddy through the bookshop I used to work at in Galway. He would often call in and we would get talking, mostly joking and have two or three members of staff laughing before he as off again. This relationship developed over the years, especially when I realised both his brilliant sense of humour and his love of nature. He was a great man for appreciating wildlife, talking to me about birds which I was keen on. I remember running into him on the streets of Galway and talking about some local cygnets, then commenting on the tan he had which he said he got from ‘Costa del Galway Canal’ and all his nature walks.
Paddy was never too busy to stop and make someone smile.
I’ll always have fond memories of Paddy. He will be missed.

Paddy/padjo was a firm favourite in the Quays he will be remembered fondly for his devilment and kindness, a rare character. Always welcomed and now always missed. Hi there I wanted to offer my condolences to you on the sad loss of Paddy. I was good friends with Paddy for a few years in Galway when I lived there between 2019 to last year. I was living on the Headford Road so when Paddy was living out that way too and we became friends from getting the same bus home. We’d often meet for coffee or go for walks along the corrib and he’d tell me all about his life. I loved hearing all his stories. We had been talking over the phone the last while since I moved to Germany but I’m sad to say I only found out today that he had passed. So I just wanted to reach out to you all now, I’m so sorry that it’s so late. I’ll always have such fond memories of our friendship and he always spoke so highly of all of you.
