Patsy was a wonderful man, with a sharp wit and a brilliant sense of humour. I always enjoyed his company. He and Marie made a great team and they always made Anne and me so welcome when we visited from England.

Of the thousands that have passed through St. Pats gates over the years, I was one of the lucky few that had Patsy teach me for five years. He was just gifted.

Gifted as a person, gifted as a teacher, gifted as a science-stroke-Chemistry afficionado, and gifted as a kind heart and pure soul. In meeting him the many times since, he always had time for a chat (often a long one) and a catch up.

Navan has lost one of it's best sons.

I’ll never forget his kindness to me personally , his fine ‘in-class’ wit, and his enthusiasm for teaching science over the five years I spent with him as a student in St. Pats. Marie, it is with deep sadness that I learned from Joan and Val of your beloved Patsy's passing. I know he had been unwell for some time, but, parting still comes as a shock.
Grief is an indescribable pain of loss but, hopefully, by surrounding yourself and your 2 boys in the caring arms of friends and family and dwelling on the lovely memories created during your long happy life with Patsy, the pain will eventually ease.
