So saddened to hear about Patsy. A most lovely gentleman and wonderful conversationalist. May his gentle soul rest peacefully. With sincerest sympathy to his family and friends.

Patsy ‘Cap’, as he was known to all, was a third generation farmer on the land on Cappanawalla Mountain where much of his farming knowledge was handed down to him by his father, while his mother gave him his spiritual values. This knowledge was further augmented by his own long farming experience, where it was clear to his many friends and neighbours that farming was not just a job for Patsy but a passion that helped conserve the future of his farm’s unique landscape. By painstakingly developing the zig zag Winterage pathway to the mountain top, Patsy became one of the many Burren farmers who welcomed eco friendly walkers onto his land to savour the wonderful views. Not alone that, he would stop and talk to visitors on any farming subject or, indeed, on any subject much to their delight and Burren enlightenment.
In recent years Patsy’s multiple cancer diagnoses did not stop his farming activities, they merely slowed him down gradually. In spite of his many visits to UCHL and, as his medical condition deteriorated, he was never heard once to complain, he remained totally focused on his farming. To say he soldiered on to the end is a measure of his personal bravery and determination, he simply never gave up. His farming work is now over, may he rest in peace 🙏
