There will be stories galore recalled of the life of Patsy Prior, President of Aughawillan GAA Club, who was summoned to the great playing field in the sky this week. Predeceased by his wife Eileen some years ago, their home in Leckaun was bedecked like a Gaelic Games museum, with team photos of Patsy in the Aughawillan colours; in the Ballinamore green and gold, with whom he won six of his eight Leitrim Senior Championship medals, before returning to his home club to bring his haul to eight; in the colours of Leitrim county teams; added to the pictorial record of Patsy's sons Peter and Patrick, daughter Regina and the next generation of Priors already making a name for themselves on the playing fields, in both Men's and Lady's football. On and on the story goes, when we consider the exploits of Eileen's family, the McBriens of Aughavas. Apart from his footballing talents, Patsy was a coach and team manager of the highest quality, a trainer, motivator, statician and most of all, a man manager who knew how to get the best out of his players.
Patsy was immensely proud of everything Aughawillan. Let us all salute his memory. Beidh tu i measc na Naomh, Patsy.

Sincere sympathy to Peter Patrick and Regena on the death of your dad.Patsy and I played together for Leitrim in the 50s and 60s and on opposing teams Fenagh v Ballinamore.He was a great sporting footballer and we talked about the difference beteween the new game and conditions when met for a chat.So sorry i am unable to attend the funeral.May he Rest in Peace.
