My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Paul's family on his untimely passing.

I first met Paul when I attended the Bunratty Chess Festival in 2016 and we became friends overs the years since then, meeting at Bunratty once a year as well as numerous times in Germany. And just this year in October, I was fortunate to spent a week working remotely from Paul's house. Paul was generous, funny, always supportive and willing to help, witty and just a great lad. Having known him was an incredible privilege as he enriched the life of anybody whom he got in touch with.

It's still incredibly hard for me to accept the fact that Paul has left this world. May he rest in peace.

I knew Paul from CBS Sexton Street and Community Games chess playing and Limerick Chess Club briefly. I wouldn’t class myself as a good chess player. Paul was in a different class. Paul really brought myself and my brother into the game. Many a happy time playing Chess at Paul’s house and Limerick Chess Club. I met up with Paul in Limerick over a year ago as I live in Luton UK now. We went for pizza and a pint in Willie Sextons which he recommended. He also knew a great friend of mine Mike Mulcahy. We talked about the old times and his work with Limerick Youth Service and the VEC. I will miss Paul as he is one of life’s true gentlemen with a great sense of humour. I never realised he had such a great passion for rugby. My sincere condolences to all the Carey family and all who knew Paul. I am so glad I met a person like Paul in life. Until we meet again my friend.God rest his gentle soul. RIP Paul.

My deepest sympathy & condolences to Paul's loving family.

I first met Paul almost 30 years ago through my wife, they worked together.
Paul was one of a kind and we instantly got on and became good friends. Over the years we had so many great times. Nights out, parties and even the odd Halloween walk (a great story). If you were invited to one of Paul's house parties you knew you were in for a great time and Paul never disappointed. The parties were legendary - not just the food, drinks and music but the amazing atmosphere Paul created in his home. Paul loved his Rugby, his Chess & he lived life to the very most! He had many hairs to his bow but above all Paul was kind, and he loved his family and his friends! In life it's one thing to love, but to be loved is another altogether. Paul was loved and will be forever missed by the people who loved him.

Wallies Hut will never be the same without you Paul....

For those of us who were privileged to know the man, it was a real pleasure. Sincere condolences to all Paul's family on his sudden and sad passing. I had the privilege of 'soldiering' with him for many years in the LGPSU VEC Vocational Group and then the IMPACT/FÓRSA NETB. I saw at first hand how he operated as a great trade unionist, doing so much quiet work for so many people. He was also an exceptional public servant in the VEC and latterly the ETB sector. He was such a decent, passionate, generous and humorous friend for so long and I will very much miss his company, which I enjoyed so much over the years. RIP Paul.
Deepest sympathy to Paul's grieving family. Paul was an outstanding, generous and loyal supporter of Fund Raising Flag Day in aid of Crumlin Children's Hospital. His unselfish dedication resulted in the provision of much needed facilities for very ill children and their accompanying parents/guardians. Thank you, Paul. May you rest in peace.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Paul was a wonderful colleague and his willingness to help and professionalism will be remembered with deep appreciation. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
