Had the pleasure of dealing with Paul frequently during my stint with Kerry FG and Young Fine Gael. Always had a courteous manner and generous with advise & time for those young involved in politics.

Often treated me to a cuppa and a biscuit at Ballydowney at membership renewal time. Enjoyed our one-to-one chats with the political stories at the time. Will be sadly missed at future FG gatherings.

I am so sorry to hear that Paul has died. I got to know Paul very well in the Seanad over all the years we spent there. Paul was a gentleman, he was astute, a wily politician, kind and considerate, and an incredible advocate for his constituency, for his county and for his country. May he rest in peace.
Paul Coghlan possessed a rare, profound perspicacity and a keen intellect; his warm, sagacious and gregarious charm won him friends wherever he went.
We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Peggy, Michael, Mairead, Áine, John Paul and Aoife and Paul's adored grandchildren Ruairí, Aoibhe, Diego, Leah, Saoirse, Iarlaith, Caoilfhionn, Lucy, Jessica and Kelly, and the extended Coghlan and O'Shea clans, and Paul's many, many friends all over Ireland and beyond.
Ní imithe uainn atá sé, ach imithe romhainn.

My deepest sympathy to Peggy and all of Paul’s family at this very sad time.
I worked in Leinster House from 2016-2020, and as a fellow Kerry person in the big smoke, we all stuck together!
Paul was always extremely generous with his time to young members of staff in Leinster House, and greeted everyone with a ‘hello brother’.
A gent, and a great politician.

Sincerest sympathy to Peggy and the Coghlan families, to the O'Shea families relations and friends on the death of Paul. As Chairman of Kerry South in 1992 it was an unique experience to travel every corner of the region with Paul. Many times he stood alone without fear or complaint to promote the common good of every one in as many ways as was possible.. When not successful, undeterred he toured the country and got elected to the Seanad, where he was able to implement the vision he had for a better Ireland. His life long determination and work services will not be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
